Fat Dissolving Injections
Aqualyx treatment is a fat dissolving injection that works by permanently liquidating and destroying fat cells.
Once destroyed the broken down cells are eliminated through the lymphatic system.
Fat dissolving injections are a great way to treat areas of stubborn fat and can help you to achieve a slimmer, more contoured body shape.
Aqualyx can be used for fat pockets anywhere on face and body including jowls, neck, stomach, legs, arms and back and will need monthly treatments of 3 or more.
The following aftercare advice is essential to help reduce the risk of treatment complications, to improve your comfort and to help achieve the best possible results from treatment.
Please follow the aftercare advice for fat dissolving injections:
- You can resume your normal daily activities after fat dissolving treatment.
- Immediately after treatment with fat dissolving you may notice some redness, swelling, tenderness and a painful sensation in the treated area, as well as numbness from the local anaesthetic. These symptoms generally improve significantly over the next few days.
- The swelling may last for up to 2 weeks – this is a good sign so don’t worry.
- Drink plenty of water after treatment, you should aim for at least 2 litres per day.
- If the area is tender, you can use simple over the counter painkillers such as paracetamol.
- Avoid makeup for 24 hours and any creams or skin oils, this will reduce the risk of infection at the injection sites.
- A cold compress may help with swelling and inflammation.
- Eating a healthy diet and doing physical exercise will help to improve fat loss.
- Try to reduce alcohol and caffeine consumption to help prevent dehydration.
- Avoid sunbeds, swimming, UV light and saunas until the redness goes down.
- Avoid any extremes of temperature for the first week following treatment.
- Your practitioner will advise when treatment appointments are required. If you are advised to attend a follow up appointment, please make every effort to attend them. You should do this even if you believe that the recovery process is going well and you cannot see that there are any visible complications.
As with all treatments that use injections you may feel a slight sting but this is very mild! I mix the product with an anaesthetic so it’s extremely bearable. You may experience some pain, light bruising or swelling around the injection area for a few days after treatment.
